Oil Mist Separator
for the Separation of Oil or Emulsion
Inhaltsverzeichnis

Oil mist separators are mechanically filtering separators used in air contaminated with coolant lubricants (CL). If water-based coolant lubricants are used, it is called an emulsion mist separator. The CL droplets are separated by coalescence filters. Here, the droplets in the exhaust air merge into larger drops within the filter medium, flow downwards due to gravity, and drip off. This results in a permanent self-cleaning of the filter elements. The liquid collected at the bottom of the filter housing can be returned to the process as needed with a pump station. A pre-filter for entrained dust can be installed upstream of the coalescence filter media. If the air is not to be discharged outside but returned to the building, a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter) stage (particulate filter) can be installed downstream.

Frequently Asked Questions
For which applications is an oil mist separator suitable?
For oil and emulsion mist.
What are the operating costs made up of?
The operating costs of a mechanically filtering separator primarily consist of electricity costs (largely dependent on the fan’s power), maintenance costs, and replacement part costs (mainly filter media).
What is the difference between an oil mist separator and an MQL separator?
Oil mist separators are used when the main component of the exhaust air contaminants is lubricant mist. MQL separators are used for dust containing minimal amounts of lubricant.
